Question:

Help in hiding meaning in poetry?

I don't have a specific poem, but can you give some examples?

Since I tend to be very blunt with the things I say, this aspect of poetry is extremely difficult for me.

So, basically, do you have any advice on how to make poems more abstract?

  1. hmm

i would try using colors to show emotion, so rather than saying scared say yellow or instead of new say green

ie: i was scared of trying new things

    vs

i was yellow in the face of green experiences

i know it's cheesy, but as a learning tools it works.

also, try using verbs to get it across

ie: a soft wind through the trees made a romantic soundtrack

    vs

the wind caressed the trees and kissed our ears

    hope this helps!

  2. I love writing poems with a hidden meaning and whats cool about it is that it can mean a billion other things to someone else. What I usually do is find adjectives for something I feel for example when your hurt emotionally make it physically for example, you can say

"Peircing swords of pasts untold, with no armors to be seen"

leave room for the imagination to work its magic and always associate objects with feeling and so on:

This is the beginning of one of my own poems

"Crimson blossoms with hidden creases, screaming petals fall as time seizes...

    Blossoms- a person/people

    Hidden Creases- Problems

Screaming petals fall - Losing your sanity

You get the idea, I hope I've helped:)
