Question:

Help in identifying large mosquito-like insect...?

While doing pest control I've seen an insect that looks like a huge mosquito and lays eggs on the side of houses... I do not think that it bites... Any ideas on what this is?

  1. dont kill them.i have been told that they eat mosquitos


  2. Check the link out below, it has photos and other information.  We call them galinippers, mosquito eaters and daddy long-legs, depending on what state I was living in.

    You don't give a lot of information on your description, but this is my guess at what it is.  We get zillions of them in spring especially, in Texas.  I've never had them bite, I just catch them and put them outdoors.

  3. guessing Crane Fly...but I don't recall seeing them lay eggs as you are describing. Despite the common belief they eat mosquitoes...they don't
