Help in pokemon gold?

where can i find heracross?i tried heatbutt many trees but still didn see any sign of heracross.is there a specific time to encounter it?

Surf to the right of Ecruteak City, There will be a piece of land with alot of trees and 3 berry trees, thats where you will find heracross.

not exacly i found one in the forest there were many small trees so when i got the tm i thaught it to a pokemon and hedbutts the trees near the person and got one but i dont use i was really searching for noctowl haaa funny
