  1. don't go on rattan tota style. plz take practice on derivation,& question. Believe me i'm topper in my college

  2. Well its an interesting subject particularly if you have good hold on thermodynamics and a bit probability. If you want to learn he subject then there is no alternative than to go in a sequence starting from basics, but as u are saying you only need to present a seminar you need not to go in that detail. The topics which I think would be interesting may include:

    1. Bose-Einstein condensation.

    2. Dying stars (white dwarfs , neutron stars, black holes)

    3. Random walk problem.

For references you can look for any good book in stat. mech. I recommend the book by 'Patharia' or Huang

Further you can google the topics. I am giving you some links below to get good ppts on B-E condensation.

    www.tekhnoscan.com/files/Bose-Einstein...

    www.physics.rutgers.edu/ugrad/351/Lect...

    www.physics.udel.edu/~glyde/BEC_Exc.pp...

Hope you find the info. relevent and helpful. For any further help you can mail me. Best of luck.
