Help installing new Honeywell programmable thermostat?

I'm replacing my 4 year old thermostat with a new Honeywell RTH7500 programmable thermostat. However the old and new wiring configurations don't seem to line up right. Can anyone with good experience in this area help me out with the correct new wiring? What wire goes where?

I've posted pictures of the old & new thermostats, along with a page from the install manual...

My A/C unit is a Carrier FA4BNF036. The sticker on the air handler indicates "Heat Pump" with a 2-stage thermostat.

Thanks in advance!

  1. I've installed a lot of thermostats and unless I could verify the functions of the leads, I'd call a contractor.

  2. Blue to C

Red to R&RC (leave jumper in)

    Orange to O/B

    White to W2

    Purple to E

    Yellow to Y

    Green to G

Also check for any programing settings in the instructions.

O should energize the reversing valve in cooling.
