  1. Liver is good for the dog, however, its not a dog's balanced diet. Mix a little dog food into his liver, just a tiny bit, every day. Gradually put a little more after a week or so. Keep going like this and see if he begins to accept the dog food, and he might accept the dog food on its own after awhile.

  2. liver is a good treat but too much liver is very harmful. If you feed a dog liver you should only feed it to the dog once a week at most. Here is a quote from a reputable link of foods to avoid giving to your dog.

    Liver

Liver does not sound like it should be included here, but it can actually be pretty damaging for dogs. Liver contains a ton of vitamin A, and too much of it causes hypervitaminosis A: vitamin A toxicity. To avoid this, no more than three servings of liver should be given to a dog, and never raw. If your pet is already taking vitamin A supplements, he or she shouldn't have any.

Vitamin A toxicity leads to loss of appetite, weight loss, and deformed bones.

To see the website go here and scroll down a little more than half way to the liver section.

  3. Liver is fine for dogs, but if that's the only thing he's eating, it can lead to vitamin A toxicity. Liver alone is not a balanced diet.

Has the dog been checked by the vet to make sure there's no medical reason he's not eating?

A healthy dog won't starve itself. Call the dog to you, put his food down for 15 minutes, and after that time has passed, pick it up regardless if he has eaten it or not. Do this twice a day. No scraps, treats, anything! He'll learn to eat when he gets hungry. Don't make a big deal out of the food, just offer it calmly.

  4. Liver is good for him, but should be given in moderation.  Liver is rich in vitamin A, and too much of it can be toxic.

Have you thought about switching him to a raw diet?  It's probably the best thing for him, and he'd still get his liver as it's part of a balanced raw diet (again, in moderation of course) ;)

  5. The liver is fine.  Dogs are carnivores.

    BUT

they do need a balanced diet.

You need to talk to your vet about balanced nutrition.

    AND

    you should consider raw feed.

If you try raw feed, give a single food for 4-7 days alone to make sure there's no problem with it.

Try raw chicken (chicken bones are only safe if given raw).

    Try cooked chicken and rice

    Try raw liver

try slivers of beef and the fat you cut off your meat cuts.

read up on raw feeding your dog. I think it will work for your dog. -!-
