Okay i got the thing in the mail from my school about Duke TIP. Its a thing where its a 7th grade talent search thingy and you can take either the sat or act and thenm if you score high enough you can go to Duke for the summer and do a little program thigny. it could open you up to a world of oportunity.

BUt I am scared to do it b/c i already have a bunch of work and things to do [Dance team;homework;band] and i'm only 12.

1ST Q: DO you think i shoudl do it?? Pros and Cons Please.

2ND: Which should i choose pros and cons please and info about that particular test.

  1. i'm 12 and i'm in 7th grade too but i didnt get that ( i am in advanced classes and taking algebra). WHERE DO U LIVE???????

anyways thats cool and i wud do it b/c its about ur future. then u cud c wat kinds of questions will be on the SAT or the ACT 4 in the future.

  2. Almost every school I applied to took both the ACT and SAT. I'm in the midwest so the ACT is far more popular and it's what I took. Honestly its just a morning taking a test.

There are multiple testing dates for both test sunless this program requires you use a specific one.

I would recommend you take the test and see how you do. If you score low - you're young! These are meant to evaluate knowledge gained in high school - so nothing is lost! If you score high then it sounds like an awesome experience to take advantage of.

To prepare I would suggest taking a full length practice exam. This will help you get used to the format, know what to expect, and understand what you need to focus on. These are probably available from your school guidance counselor.

There are all kinds of old tests, ACT prep books, and so on. Work on everything for 30 minutes to an hour each day instead of trying to cram. This test IS one that you can study for.

Also - don't worry how your first score comes out. I scored a 22 the first time I took it as a middle schooler and the second time i took it I got a 27 - so there can be a big points jump

  3. sounds like a good college opprotunity. take it
