Help....laptop? What laptop should I get?

Alright I need to know what kind of laptop I want to get. I want to check my mail and sims 2 can go on it. I need something that can store my writing and school stuff. I need to check my mail on it and download a lot of stuff. I'm thinking about getting a Dell. There the best ones out there right? Well anyway I need something for a family. I need something with a lot of GB. So could you tell me what kind of laptop I should get and it need to be available at Wal-mart or Staples or even Office Max. First person to answer with more info gets 10 points.

i would suggest  a macbook or macbook pro

there nice, sleek,metal and modern.

they allow you to stay organized with a very nice desktop.

apple computers come with alot of applications that allow you to have fun and keep things neat.

photographers and musicians prefer and apple computer do to the high quality audio and high resolution displays.

you can also run windows on one.

i bought an Acer and added 1gb it is the best  computer it has so many added programs better than Dell.

Get a MacBook. Best technology decision I ever made.

Apple makes the best products. They cost more, but in the long run they work best and so do their programs.

Sims aside (check the Amazon customer reviews - some will mention what system performance they had for a given set of specs) your needs are pretty conservative.

In fact, they are about identical to about 1 out of every five questions posted under this topic on YA - "what laptop should I get to surf the web and get my email, youtube, pictures, music., etc?"

Dell makes computers - they make many different kind of computers.  Think of a PC as a car.  Nobody goes to the lot intent on buying whatever Ford or Nissan makes.  They have an idea of what kind of car (SUV, sedan, economy) and what price range.

Sure they are.  Dell is noumber one.  And Apple.  And HP, Lenovo and (sometimes) Acer (I did say sometimes).  I see so much hatemail about Dell, but my Dimension still works fine.

Remember the analogy about cars?  What are the odds that you'll have a make like GM or Toyota with reviews that vary depending on the model?  Pretty good right?  Same with PC's - any company wll have some good ones and some losers.

You need a desktop.  You want a machine that will be exactly where it was when last used.

A lot?  I'm guessing that you mean HD space.  There is a limit to how many GB's of RAM some OS's will accept.  In any event, you don't need a big HD becuase you can always save to recordable CD or DVD.

You still haven't said what your priorities are, and you haven't specified a price range.  Putting aside the desktop comment, you can get any Laptop to do what you want.  if price is the issue, get the cheapest one.  If performance is the issue, you can buy a more expensive machine - but I just don't see why you'd need performance.

I know I'm not getting the points for this, but I have to ask, if you're plugging into the digital world, why are you, limiting yourself to those guys?  I;m in NY where I shop at J&R Computer world - it's a great outfit and I think you can buy online.

go with what you can afford. Compare the laptops from the sunday ads. Go with what will give you the most bang for your buck.

In my opinion the best laptop is HP..i have had mine for a few years and i have had no problems. i play games everything

I would get a mac.  I don't know if they can have sims 2 on it, but they store a lot of things and hold a lot of space.  Perfect for families,  you can download lots of things, you can basically do everything.  And I personally don't think that dells are the best out there.  You would be able to find this at the Mac store.  I don't know about the other ones though.  Hope I helped!
