  1. I got mine from Costco.com..And I love it not to complicated. Also if you don't like it you can always return it to Costco and get your money back.

I ordered mine on-line and had it delivered.

    Happy Sewing!

  2. If you can get your hands on a copy of Consumer Reports, you might start there. Also have a look at the reviews on epinions. In the 'old days' you could go to a store like Sears and try out different sewing machines..but what I like to do is find a sewing machine repair shop and go have a look at what has been traded in. You can also ask the shop which models/ brands have the best track record in their opinion.

I know that when I was shopping for a serger a few years back, I went into a shop that did repairs and the man there explained to me that machines made in Japan (before a certain date I suppose) had metal gears as opposed to plastic or nylon.

He sold me a serger that a man had brought in to him after his wife had died. She had only used it once or twice and it still had the tags hanging on it. It was a great buy and I still have it.
