Okay I have a 10 month old German Shepherd Mix. He is on an all natural raw diet because he has allergies. I would like to make treats for him as the only thing he can have from the pet store is the 100% freeze dried liver or chicken. Is there anything I can make for him in batches that doesn't contain the corn, wheat, grains...etc?

  1. You could use the canned food or dried food that he is eating and put it in ice cube trays then add water or chicken broth and make doggie ice cube treats. Also you can use dixie paper cups for bigger treats (just peel off the paper cup before giving it to them)

  2. my girls have serious allergies, as well..no corn/wheat/beef/some other stuff lol

but I  have found that I can use rice flour in place of regular flour or corn meal in dog snack recipes

I also get sweet potatoes and slice them up and put them in my food dehydrator for a few hours and my dogs love to crunch on them..

I do the same with boneless skinless chicken  b*****s, slice them up really thin and I sprinkle them with garlic powder and a little lite soy sauce and put them on the dehydrator for about 8-10 hours (or overnight) and they are fabulous dog snacks... I suppose you could use the regular oven on a low setting with the door open.. I do my chicken on the 155degree setting on my dehydrator, and my sweet potatoes at 135

Also, whenever I fix broccoli, or I'm steaming some soybeans.. I have to fix them some, too.. they LOVE to eat soybeans and broccoli...

  3. I am sure he loves his freeze dried liver and chicken.  That is all he needs.

  4. Just to make it easy i would just buy him treats at the pet store that do not contain the ingredients you listed. If you type in google 'Dog Treat Recipes' you may find some listed that doesn't have any corn, wheat, grains etc...Good Luck!
