Is finding a clerical/office support position terribly difficult in Atlanta??? I have been searching since the beginning of June and no phone calls yet. I'm planning on relocating by August 1st. Help!! Any suggestions, leads on jobs, or even some websites that may help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance

  1. It can be difficult and if you are wanting the companies to call you it is near impossible but there are ways to make it easier.  Register with a temp service (Temporary employment agency) in your area that has offices in the part of Atlanta where you want to be.  Even if you do not work with them there you will have your testing out of the way, they will be able to check your references in the localarea where you are and hey some extra cash for moving can be a help. Many clerical jobs in Atlantab are flled in what is called temp to permanent employment which means that you and the co get to try each other out before there is a final committment. There is no fee with this ntype agency and getting set up with one before you move pretty much guarantees you at least some work when you arrive if you have strong skills,.   Also go to http://www.thejobsite.org for info on clerical and otehr jobs with the state of GA, look up the county where you want to live on http://www.altavista.com/web/adv and find it'sweb site to look for county jobs.  Also check out http://www.dol.state.ga.us/js/  for jobs listed with GA dept of labor. Try to see if your library or one near you gets the print version of Atlanta Journal Constitution.  You can go to their web site http://www.ajc.com but it gets pretty out of date where the print version is more current.   If you are planning on living in the suburbs check out Neighbor Newspapers or other newspapers for your specific county (again search on Altavista to find them easily)

  2. The best way to get your foot in the door down here is via temp agencies.  Best wishes to you.

  3. Atlanta is a really large geographic area, you might want to try & narrow your search. Check out jobs on the web at www.AJC.com, our local paper. Or Georgia Dept of Labor website.  The job market is tight right now but you'll be able to find something. **** Luck with the search.
