I want to get a pet rat, but soooooooooooo many people think rats are "gross" and "icky" Help?

it only matters what you think. it's not like you're choosing a mascot that everybody needs to like. if you really care about what people want just lie about having it, but if you really want a pet rat don't listen to what people think. only you matter. don't give in to peer pressure! hope this helps

Rats acutally are know to be awesome pets! Pet store rats aren't nasty sewer rats, like you think. They are friendly (most of them), and usually very cute. Ask to hold one at your local petshop, and see how you like him/her!

Peer pressure is bad if they say "ew dont get one"

If you want one, It's not their problem just show them your rat and they will know how adorable he/she is and will get over it sooner or later.

Who cares what they think?  They will be your pets, and not theirs.  So as long as you love them, it doesn't matter.  Besides, if you have rats, you can show them to people who may think they are 'gross' and those people can end up changing their minds. :D

Well, I believe that you should take into consideration where you live first, if you rent then you might be a lawsuit waiting to happen in this sue happy country of ours.  Really rats are not much different than squirrels except squirrels are much furrier.  I raised a few squirrels after hurricane Ivan or Katrina (can't remember which one) but their hygiene is atrocious and they can eat through most hamster homes.  It takes a lot of planning to take on a rodent that can get into places that you would never imagine and eat almost anything short of steel.  If you really want one be ready for the adventure.  Have Fun and take care.

If you put a rat in everyone's bed and they are surprised to see how warm, fuzzy, and cuddly they are, there won't be any more problems!
