Okay, today I was at the mall with a few friends. I saw in like Target (I think?) polo shirts (boys and girls) on sale for like $5 and I felt in the mood to do something good. My friends and I walked over to the shelter and asked if there were any kids in the shelter that needed a polo shirt. They announced it over the intercom and we got 12 mothers running down the stairs with their children. So we took down their sizes and brought them over their shirts when we were done shopping. What a great feeling! I want to do more. I couldn't stop thinking what I could do to help them. Any ideas?

  1. Maybe find some inexpensive stuffed animals and bring a ton of them over to the shelter.

  2. Thats great! Keep up the good work.

You could buy food, like tins of tuna, or just look around for cheap stuff that they could use or need.

  3. Next time you are close to a shelter, food pantry, or serving center, look around you. As simple as this sounds, the first person you see who appears to be down on their luck, run up to them and give them a hug. It might sound creepy, but I was one of those kids who never really received one when I was growing up. I've been down on my luck more than a few times, but there was once, I was coming out of a place where I had just been turned away from food, when a woman stopped me, and gave me a hug. I was so scared and upset, and when she hugged me, it felt like time stood still, and all my worries werent really all that bad. I am now doing very well, but I never miss the chance to purchase a meal for someone, or maybe take a child school shopping. The feeling is unforgettable.
