Help me PLEASE? Is it possible to cut sea shells??

How can I cut large sea shells without buying special sea shell tools or ruining a knife???

  1. Shells are basically calcium carbonate or limestone like, simply use stone or masonry cutting wheel in angle grinder should work though dusty (avoid dust) a wet stone saw or tile cutter would be a better option and if you let the tool do the work without using force you should be able to cleanly cleave them in two.


  2. I don't know how you would cut it, but I used to make jewelry with sea shells and I used a power drill. If you decide to try using a power drill I would suggest using the smallest bit possible. Hope I helped :~)

  3.   Because they are hard and very brittle, the ideal solution would be a wire coated with diamond grit in a band saw.  Failing that because of cost, you might look for blades for jewelers saws with the same material, depending on how large your shells are.
