Hey everybody!! I would like to tell you a little about my relay for life team. Our name is strike-out cancer and My reason for relay is for this little boy who lost his life to NueroBlastoma. This boy had so much passion for life and baseball with everything he did, and that really inspired me to fight against cancer so other patients could have a better-lived life.

So I just wanted to put that out there and come check out my website and make a donation today AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!

http://main.acsevents.org/goto/causefora...

  1. I lost my husband to cancer when my boys were 5 and 9. He'd swum in a Cancer Swim just a few months before diagnosis.

Frankly, though, if you want to strike out cancer, just give the money. Don't distract yourselves by getting snacks and food and training and finding a time and place to walk with friends. My experience with Relay for Life is that it's more like a moving party and gab session than anything else. Your donors will give money if you say it's for cancer and stick out your palm to receive it--it doesn't matter how much you walk or if you walk or kiss a pig or shave your head.

In the 18 months between diagnosis and death, my husband received wonderful support from friends and relatives and even strangers who weren't distracted by Relay. They found time instead to visit him, mow our grass, take our children to school, or even keep them overnight when he and I were both at the hospital. Instead of hiring PA systems and buying extra athletic shoes and snack foods for themselves, they paid our car repair prescription bills.
