Help me. What is a good audition song?

Hi im 14 years old and am auditioning for a school play. I want a song to try and show off my vocal range, and i'd love anything but techno and country to sing. Can anyone please help me? Thanks a bunch!

Usually when you're auditioning for a musical you should sing a song from another musical. Musical songs are completely different from popular music. Try something that has the same range and type of song like the ones in the show you're auditioning for.

for musicals and plays never, never, ever sing anything that is not from a musical. if you sing mostly head, light, comes from your head, these are some good selections

-seasons of love(rent)

-if only(the little mermaid)

-always true to you(kiss me kate)

-a change in me (beauty and the beast)(this has very long note holds)

if you sing mainly in chest, you can almost feel it in your stomach, here are some good songs.

-my new philosiphy (your a good man charlie brown)

-home(beauty and the beast)

-the wizard and i(wicked)

if you want to show your muscial range, you should sing the star-spangled banner. i know that it's old-fashioned but it shows off your highs and your lows adn it's very patrotic.

What type of play is it?

I sung a song by Janet Jackson called Again. It's very sweet and simple song, and I also have the instrumental (just music no voice) if you need it.
