  1. The terms "Capacitor" and "Condenser" are often interchangeable; the latter term is sometimes seen in automotive applications or older literature.

These devices are used in all sorts of applications. They have some unique properties that allow them to block a DC voltage and yet pass AC, making them suitable for filtering and other design purposes. Virtually every electronic device made will have at least some of these somewhere in the circuit.

They do not provide power, however some capacitors can store and hold a charge for a period of time which is why some folks sometimes confuse them with batteries. Large electrolytic types should be treated with caution as the voltage stored can be discharged with significant current under the right conditions.

Resisters are also very common electronic components; as the name suggests they "resist" electricity and can be used for all kinds of applications.

  2. Capacitor is an electrical device consisting of two conducting plates separated by an electrical insulator (the dielectric), designed to hold an electric charge. They are not the same !!

  4. try this link below it may help or give you a better ideal of were to look for it is difficult to explain how they work and when to use or not.

  5. Well,  I think if you have no idea of Electronic/Electromechanical pieces, The best suggestion I can have for you is to read a simple introduction book, which fully explained about these stuff (Like what I did.)
