  1. just relax and try to use logic. Don't let your emotions (fear and panic) get the best of you. Remember that air travel is the safest form of travel.

I work in areospace and there are so many quality specs and documents required for even the most insignificant piece of an aircraft. Those planes are safe. And theres a paper-trail to prove it. Did you know that in the Areospace industry, a part must have a papertrail to trace it all the way back to the location where the raw metal was mined from the earth? Its true. Areospace safety standards are that strict.

  2. Statistics show that you are 1000 times more likely to die in a freeway than in an aircraft.

Commercial jets are EXTREMELY safe machines for transporting people. In fact, in my experience in riding aircrafts, take offs and landings are my favorite part.

Anyway, before an aircraft takes off, multiple procedures and maintainance are carried out. even the smallest matter of damage in an aircraft is addressed to by professionals.

Scared because you hear stories of plane crashes? Donkies and mules kill more people than air crashes!

I suggest you watch discovery channel and national geographic channel. they have TV shows dedicated to aircrafts. the facts that they'll give you will be more than enough to help you conquer your fears!

  3. Relax, you have more chance of dying from chronic diarrhea

  4. I flew professionally as a pilot for 37 years, and the worst thing that ever went wrong with a passenger airliner was when a k**b came off one of the radios.  It has always been and is now the safest, most secure way to travel.  It's just that most people don't do it every day, so you don't have a chance to get used to the sensations of flying, that are a little different from what we experience most of the time.

You are hundreds or even thousands of times more likely to be in an accident riding in a car than you are in an airplane, but because you do it all the time, you don't think about it the same way.

My guess is that someone told you something a long time ago that made you afraid of flying.  If you can remember what that was, it should help you because you can talk back and say, "No, I'm safe!  You're wrong!"  If not, then get some books about flying and read and look at the pictures.  The more familiar you are with everything, the less scary it will be.

Finally, yes--your doctor can give you something to help you calm down.  But use it only if nothing else works.

And remember:  the airplane was made by people who know what they are doing, and made a great effort to make it safe, and the crew flying the airplane are very highly trained experts with lots of practice, and they have your enjoyment and your safety close to their hearts.

Also, think about where you are going and how much you will enjoy being there.  Have a good flight!

  5. I know how you feel. I have a crazy fear of rollar coasters, even though I love them when I get off. Even when I remember I liked it, I never go on because I get scared. I'm not even afarid I'll die, I just can't explain it. Look for the youngest kid there and just remember "if they can do it, I can"

Hey, it works on rollar coasters.

  6. well bt2 me 2 bout 13

but yea theres almost nothing bad that can happen i mean really it is not gonna explode or nothin i mean if hteres an engne failure late after to then ur ok but u know what ever

  7. You are facing your fears, just by asking this question.  That takes some guts to do.  I don't think meds are the answer.  Frankly I don't think meds are the answer to just about any psychological condition-so take this for what it's worth:

Generally fear is caused by not understanding a stimulus.  Do your best to think about specifically what frightens you: is it the noise, the acceleration or the rotation (when the jet lifts off)?  You can muffle the noise some with noise cancelling headphones, and by sitting closer to the front of the cabin.

If you aren't sure how airplanes fly, then do some reading. Actually there's some really explanations by folks smarter than I here on Answers.  You might also ask if you can look in the cockpit for a moment when boarding (you won't be able to do this once airborne).  Talking with the crew explaining your worries might give you some confidence in what's happening.

After 105 years of powered flight, it is STILL the safest way to travel.  Please keep in mind you hear about disasters BECAUSE they are rare-and therefore newsworthy.  Would you watch the news if they continually reported:  3000 flights took off and landed across the US today safely.  But, that is the truth.
