Help me about my chicken please!?

ok, so i have a pet chicken and when she and her chiks went home, their feet was full of asphalt, i didnt recognize it yesterday but the next day, it dried out and i got the asphalt from their foot but there where some left in her feathers, how can i get it without hurting them?

  1. if its not too bad and they can still function then just leave them,the feathers will shed off eventually taking the asphalt with it. if not then I have no idea...


  2. After a while the feathers will shed off. It wont hurt the chicken, but they might peck at it to try to get it off herself, but it wont hurt her. Hope this Helps!!!

  3. You can clip their feathers at the lower points without harming them. And clipping should be a routine process or they can get pretty far, but not too airborne.

  4. Depending on the type of feathers I would suggest carefully snipping just the bits needed to be ridof the asphalt off the feathers. Of course, if these are pin feathers or likely to bleed, I wouldnt bother.

  5. If she has had this in her feathers a while, then obviously it's doing no harm, so let her clean it out herself.
