its for school, just make it sound like its coming from a teenager, PLEASE! thanks so much! analyze away, please!

i cannot live with you,

It would be life,

And life is over there

Behind the shelf

The sexton keeps the key to,

Putting up

Our life, his porcelain,

Like a cup

Discarded of the housewife,

Quaint or broken;

A newer Sevres pleases,

Old ones crack.

I could not die with you,

For one must wait

To shut the other's gaze down,

You could not.

And I, could I stand by

And see you freeze,

Without my right of frost,

Death's privilege?

Nor could I rise with you,

Because your face

Would put out Jesus'.

That new grace

Glow plain and foreign

On my homesick eye,

Except that you, than he

Shone closer by.

  1. well okay the first section is like this person can't be with her because she's the life in him, and it's far away

2nd section is kindof like s*x. his porcelain  (p***s) goes in and it's delicate like a glass cup and the outcome will affect their life together

the 3rd section is when done, they are broken, and the porcelain cracks

the 4th section is that he could not die with her, he would wait till after she dies to outlive her. and like someone could wait to get rid of the gossip and she couldn't

the 5th section is him questioning himself. he's questioning himself as to whether he could watch her die without dying with her, and that if he deserves to die

the 6th section is that he couldn't be in heaven with her,  because her face would put Jesus' to shame and the light would all be in her face instead of heaven

the 7th section is like to just appear insignificant to him and to be better off than he will ever be.

all of this is kindof an educated guess, seeing as i've never read this poem before. but it's beautiful. i love it.

  2. Well... I can tell you that it's horrible!! I think it might mean that his/her lover or beloved one has died... and he/she wants to die too??
