  1. If you know her name address her by it since you were there you should know it. Not using it in this case is considered rude and inconsiderate. As is too whom it may concern in this case.

up on my application, not up my applications.

Would you be able to inform me if the director has reviewed my CV.

BTW a machine operator should have a resume not a cv. CVs are generally for jobs that require a post graduate degree or a professional certification. Not a trades license. Appearing pretentious could cost you a job.  Avoid it.

For others who ask a CV is a Curriculum Vitae or circle of life, It includes all education experience etc and is much longer than a resume.

  19. Even if the letter will be read by the secretary, you should write it as to the director. The letter you wrote seems rather informal, and not very businesslike. If it were me, *I* would follow proper business writing protocol and write,

position in the company (ie Director of Fine Machines)

    street address of the business

    city and state of business

    space

    date

    space

Dear (director's title and last name, Ms. ?)

    space

I wish you good day. I applied at (business name)  last week to fill the position of machine operator and am writing to inquire as to whether my resume has been reviewed.
