Right now i have all crappy tools, which do get the job done, but im wanting to upgrade. I would like to buy a nice tool box and from there buy the tools i need piece by piece to complete the set. Oh, if anyone can give comments on the quality brands they prefer let me know. Thanks

  1. Well, it really depends on the "tools" you are using -- woodworking, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, auto mechanics, etc.

CLC, AWP, and McGuire Nicholas all make good soft-sided bags.  Pro-Veto makes top end of same.

Power tools, I like Bosch, Makita, Milwaukee, Porter Cable, and in some cases, DeWalt.  Mechanic's tools, Gear Wrench seem to be good.  Otherwise, Home Depot and Lowe's house brands, Husky and Kobalt are OK for all but full-time usage.  A lot of people like Craftsman, but I think they've been coasting on their reputation for about 40 years.  Normally, they're known as "Crapsman".  Their screwdrivers, wrenches, and socket sets seem to be "OK", but I've not been happy with their power or woodworking tools.

  2. I bought 3 tool sets from craftsman @ like $120.00 a set.One each for my 2 trucks and one for home. Then keep a bucket of tools for home improvement.

Myth vs reality.I personally have over $50,000 in snap on tools which I use in the up keep of my vehicles (used to work as a mechanic). If I was going to use them today as you suggest I would buy "craftsman".There tools are affordable, excellent replacement policy and a good value.Don't get caught up as I did,but i was making good money then.

    My best
