So I am a junior running xc for the first time. I have done track for the past 3 years. Our first meet is tomorrow and I am so nervous. I fear finishing last. My time for a mile is only 7:40 even though my 800 time is 2:40 and 65 400m. How can I keep a fast pace during the xc race? I always feel like I need to take it slow so I have enough energy to last 5k but they all start so fast! It scares me that I am too slow for xc even though I am a mid distance runner. Any tips?

  1. just take a deep breath and start fast with the rest of them once you get out of the crowd and on ur own           set ur own speed, listen to ur breathing and just keeo encouraging yourself to go faster --- don't push yourself to hard to first mile or so you will need your energy to finish :)

    good luck

you can get much information in this website, If you will check anyone blue link in website.

  3. I know, I've been there, done that.  What you want to do is start out fast like the rest of them because it is going to be a big crowd that you are running with, so if you want to get in a good postition its best to do it in the beginning and then gradually slow a little bit down to your race pace, which should be like 60%-->75% of how fast you can run (if you can keep like that for a while).  You might end up last, but hey its your first meet and your first time doing cross country, so don't be so hard on yourself.  Also, when you get near the finish line, like if its about 100 meters or so in front of you, thats when you just sprint the baby as fast as you can without hurting yourself.  What I personaly do is I play a song in my head and it helps me keep going.  OH and you don't want to think too much, cuz that will throw you off too. I hope that helps.

  4. i'm sure you'll do great!

just try not to think about it then when u get started running then don't think about how far it is think about a song u heard recently..

    that always helps me

    -GOOD LUCK!-
