  1. personally I would buy dell and then twiddle the the specs until they're just right. You can buy a decent dell laptop the same specs as a macbook for half the price and sony also overcharge. Or look at the asus eee PC range they're great and cheap!

  2. NO DELL... they are crappy..

no MAC either, macs are for those artsy weirdos, photoshop runs just as well on a pc, no major issues, i would DEFINITELY recommend a TOSHIBA, or an HP..... top two, i worked for circuit city in the tech dept. and i loved that job, i love computers.....  those two are very reliable, my toshibas, been lasting me 4 years.. and its a laptop... stay away from cheap sh* it like acers, dells are poorly made, macs are overly expensive, and not many like its strange format, i prefer pc

  3. Buy referbished. You're practically buying a new laptop, but saving a LOT of money.

  4. neither, macintosh/apple !!

  5. If I had to buy a new laptop from one of those two companies I'd go with a Dell because their latitude line (the one aimed at businesses that is still available with XP, pity they aren't offering Linux pre-installed here) has computers with proper anti-glare coatings and pointing sticks but that's personal ergonomic preference (I hate touchpads and I prefer to have a monitor instead of a mirror).  Of course I'd look at laptops from other companies that have the features I want.

In terms of reliability you'll see a lot of people saying that one brand is really good and a lot saying to stay clear of a certain brand (pretty much every brand has people saying such things of them) but you should really just ignore them as they aren't a large enough sample size to be significant.  There don't seem to be any decent statistics about laptop reliability out there so every brand is probably much the same.

That said, each brand does from time to time have models with a high failure rate, searching the net for the specific models you are looking at should give you a pretty good clue as to whether any of those models are likely to be bad choices (one or two negative comments can probably be dismissed as the odd bad laptop or user error but if a lot of people have something bad to say then there probably is something wrong with that model).

When it comes to graphics usually the nVidia or aTi discrete chips are better (although the newest Intel integrated chips are actually pretty good, almost as good as the low end discrete chips), also be aware that nVidia and aTi make integrated graphics chipsets (that can often be worse than Intel graphics) for laptops with AMD processors.

See http://www.notebookcheck.net/Comparison-... for information on the various graphics chips.

  6. Regardless of the price I'd go for an Alienware laptop.

    They're fast and cool ;)

  7. Go for Sony. Or Lenovo Thinkpad series or MacBook Pro (not Air!)

  8. Go for Dell.. the customization to get to do with the laptops is simply super... and the support that Dell provides is the best.

  9. go HP

  10. Well it depends on what you need it for. If you are dong anything creative then mac all the way. I have both mac and dell. I'm using the dell right now. The dell is just for your regular stuff. Nothing really special or different about it. Same with sony or pretty much any PC. They are not bad, its just they are nothing special. Mac is different. I prefer mac any day. But that's bc I do a lot of creative things with it.

  11. Buy the best machine offering :

    1) Performance

    2) Warranty period

    3) On board OS and security apps

    4) Proper "weight" and "size" for the above

The vendors offering what u need will definitely gain u as a client.

  12. well am used to buying dell but if you want it for songs ect ill say sony but if you want it for your home and to have the main windows ill say Dell! thats what i have but if you have money buy a macbook air!

    :)

  13. STAY AWAY FROM TOSHIBA

but hp is probably ur best choice cause they run good and there parts are available cheaper
