1. Assume that the boy with the slingshot is below the boy in the tree and so aims upward, directly at the boy in the tree. Show that the boy in the tree makes the wrong move by letting go at the moment the water balloon is shot.

2. Explain how did the cow able to move the cart when the cart and the cow have opposite direction of forces.

  1. In the first example, the boy in the tree will hesitate for a very short time because objects at rest tend to stay at rest until acted upon by another force - in this case, gravity. The balloon, however, will be accelerated by the sling shot (much faster than if the force were gravity alone) and soak the boy in the tree before he has a chance to fall out of its range.

    In the second example, the cow simply exceeds to wagon's opposite force thus making the difference in force positive for the cow.
