I'm trying to figure out this type of bird, it's for a contest.

- It's not a chicken

- It's not a penguin

- It doesn't fly

- No it is not extinct but very rare..... only 1 in 100,000 of these born are this kind of this animal.

- It is on the large side

- As far as if it's in a zoo or not - "Usually there is a large section for these but they are mixed with others of the same kind of thing that are slightly different and more common."

  1. The large flightless birds I can think of are Ostrich, Emu, Rhea and Cassowary. I would say that there is some mutation they are talking about- perhaps an albino?

  2. HEY maybe an Ostrich or an Emu? i don't know how rare they are but they can't fly and are very large! also maybe a mix species between the two! hope that this helps you win your contest! ;D

  3. I think this is the thing to go on:  "only 1 in 100,000 of these born are this kind of this animal."  It would seem to me it would be referencing a color... like only one in 100,000 of animal X are albino animal Xs. So, look at large flightless birds in zoos that occasionally have odd colored chicks.  Ostrich, emu or rhea are possibilities.  So are puffins.

Flamingos fly, so it's not a flamingo.

    Edit:

Based on your other questions hint... Albino kiwi?  VERY rare.

  4. i would say ostrich or emu

  5. Flamingo!!!!
