Help me find a cool bar in LA!?

i live in the OC and this place is so played out. I want to venture out into L.A, but it is so big and there is so much to do BUT WHAT??? i'm looking for a nice lounge or bar that is within reason (price wise). Does anyone have any suggestions?

Their was 2 places that was cool when I was on the scene, but my info is old. Sadly these places may not exist but I cannot help but think they are still partying down somewhere in Southern California. I remember a club called The Palomino and another one called Beaners. Both were excellent.
