  1. visit fastweb.com and look at the scholarship that are given based on the criteria that you give them.

  2. Thats a hard situation and I understand your pain, when I got my first degree my mother made to much for me to get any grants and later in as an adult I returned to school and while I make to much, I think their scales are way off. For some one that makes to much to get education grants why can I only afford a 12 year old car. ^_^

I found fastweb.com to be a great site, it is a lot of work, nothing on the site will come easy and most of it requires you to do a lot of writing but every little bit helps, trust me even the little 250.00 and 500.00 grants add up fast. Also the best and I mean best recources I found was the Finacial aid staff at both of my schools. There job is to make the school money and the only way they can do that is if your a student and fully funded. Most of them I found to be very honest and always tried to find the best rates when I started needing private loans. Just keep an eye on your rates and keep an eye on repayment terms. Some loans build interest on you even if you are still in your grace period. I didn't pay much attention to the last part and it has cost me several thousand in interest.

Also I often made the mistake of gettng to excited about school and not keeping an eye on how much I was actually barowing. I have horible credit but student loans are as easy as eating pancakes to get. I am now repaying 52K in student loans. That is only an AS then a BS a few years later, I still want to go back for my masters and doctoral studies but I have learned my lesson on student loans.

In closing sorry for all the rambeling, just one eye on your long term goal and the other eye on how much its costing you. Don't go into dept that you have to spend the next 30 years fighting to get out of. Yet also think about it this way, spending 20k on a new care is great but save that money, drive a 12 year old car like me and put that 20k into your future, one day, not soon, it will pay off.

Good luck and enjoy the adventure of College.
