  1. First - add your details to the registries here -

    http://registry.adoption.com/

Check here for information on your state records here -

    http://adopteerights.net/

(click on the page marked 'Searchers' down the left hand side)

Check here for search help - and links to search angels -

And check here for any support - it's the best online forum for adoptees I've found -

All the very best with your search.

  2. First step would be dependent on how you were adopted.  E-mail me and I will help you.  I found my bmom (and unfortunately sperm donor too), so be prepared.

  3. A lot will depend on what state you were born in and what state you were adopted in.  Some states allow you to get your original birth certificate just like non-adoptees.  Other states will give you non-identifying information, others will try to contact your birth parents, others will give you nothing without a court order.

  4. first step put her name all over the net and see if anyone knows her? also put in stuff at cousinconnect.com you'll see once you log in. its neat. there are so many there I have a mom (carol elsie Kern, last names used were caine, thompson, etc lots more i dont' even know) in case we are related.

  5. Did you ask your parents what they know?

If you know what state, and the name of the person, you can google it, or go the the library, and look up people in that town with the same name

If you hit a relative, they might take your number

You can contract the agency, asking if your birth parents are looking for you

  6. Contacting the Oprah show with a heartbreaking story could help.

The Internet has amazing websites [but, beware of scams!], check some out:

I wish you the best of luck in your life.
