  1. i feel your pain.... all you want to do is know...

except in my case i have about 40 family members but all of them refuse to speak about my grandpa so i know nothing...

    dont give up!

  2. you can go get a subscription to ancestry.com and search it

  3. Sometimes maiden names are listed in the death index, so go google SS death index, type her last known last name, it will pop up the exact date she died and her full name, the middle name listed might be her maiden. Also if you know her DOB you could look up birth index for state she was born in (if you know it) and see if you find a match on first and middle name.

  4. UK answer.

I found your grandma's  death details, she died in Hampstead  in the J/A/S quarter of 1949 it gives her age at time of death as 37 years old. The volume  number is 5c and the page number is 652, you will need these numbers to order the death certificate from the GRO.

    http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

These numbers only apply to the government office mentioned.

If you would like to email me your mums christian name I can find your grans maiden name, it is against the law to post information re: a living person on any live forum.

    Hope this helps.

  5. I possibly located information on your grandmother via ancestry.com, but maybe you are the one that placed it there?  It uses SHEPHERD as the 'maiden name', however.

Isabel Joyce SHEPHERD  married a Walter EASTWOOD, they had 2 children.  Isabel passed away on 29 September 1949 in Hampstead.

If you have no knowledge of photos of this Isabel Joyce being online or a family tree w/ this info., email me privately and I will see that I send it to you.

  6. You can either go to http://www.genealogy.com/index_r.html or http://www.ancestry.com/?o_xid=22773&o_l... but it can cost money or you can check old census records( often they have records of maiden names). If possible try to find a birth certificate.

By the way have you asked anyone else in your family (I assume you asked your mother) if they know her maiden name. Is your grandfather still alive, or any of his siblings, because they might know.

  7. there isent enough information. you need to enclude more background information, you cant re-trace some ones past with just names.
