  1. As an owner of the R28s, Wacky is way off on the weight. Mine actually weigh in at 1510 grams a little more than Neuvation states- but a lot less than 1725 grams. Other than thatthe Ascents would be my choice if I were to change. Also the R28 aero4s are SRAM compatible if you prefer to stay with Neuvations.

  2. Look for Velomax or Easton Ascent II wheels. They are discontinued right now, and on sale all around the web. They are about 1420 grams for the pair. And they have a superior feel to aluminum-spoked wheels. They are Campy or Shimano compatible.

These wheels will dramatically improve the ride quality of your bike and will be much lighter than the Neuvation (1725 grams) wheels you have. This is nearly one pound off your bike, and it's rotational mass. This would be an unbelievable difference to your bike.

  3. Wacky is dead on with his advice.  I have a pair of Ascents on one of my road bikes and have been very happy with them, after more than 10,000 miles.  They will work fine with the SRAM red group.  You don't say how much you weigh, but I'd stay away from the Ascents if you weigh 180 or more.  I was riding beside a heavy friend a couple of years ago when he blew out his rear Ascent II.

The other wheel to check out in your price range is the American Classic Sprint 350 or, if you are heavier, the 420 (or Hurricane for the Clydesdale category rider).  They are my all-around favorite wheels, and are on my daily rider.  Almost as light as the Eastons, and bullet proof conventional spoke design.  Link below.
