I hit a dead end in my family tree. My mom's grandmother. My great aunt said something about her being adopted (she might not have been adopted officially. I'm not sure.).

Note: I am not sure of the spellings because this was by word of mouth.

Her name was Clara.

Her last name was Nichols (but this was not her birth name I believe).

She married Herschel Summerlin.

Both she and Herschel probably were married and/or born in Georgia or the surrounding area.

Some of their children's names were John, Mary and Lucy.

Son John was born in August 1931. (This is the only time frame I can give you. I don't know their ages).

I believe there was something about Clara's grandfather (or a male ancestor) coming from Europe.

This is all the main information I can think of right now. If you need more, ask and I'll see if I can find out but this is pretty much all I have. Sorry. Please help. Thanks.
