Help me fine information about piggery business. Is there a way on how to minimize the bad odor of the pigs.?

I don't mean to be flip, but since pigs are the cleanest animals and people do make them indoor pets because of that, I would think that if there is bad smell it could come from what your pigs are eating (like cabbage), or maybe you need more pen cleaning people or something.  Usually pig farms are away from the general population.

I used to work in a hog confinement and we used this stuff called "Pit Remedy" and added it directly to the pits once a month.  It helped break down the waste and neutralized the smell.

Improved sanitation is about the only way.  Keep cleaning and cleaning.  It is hard work the housing must be kept clean and sanitary.  The manure and any bedding you might have used must be disposed of in a proper proper and timely manor.

If you keep pigs, make sure they have lots of room to run.  Then you won't have a big smell.  If you can't do that, then you have to clean up after them.  Pigs will pick a certain part of the pen to poo in, they don't go all over.  So all you have to do is clean that area every day and you will cut down on the smell.  Pigs are very clean animals by nature, but being confined keeps their poo near them and it builds up.  We kept 20 hogs on 40 acres and never did have a smell problem.  They would bathe in the creek and do their poo business away from their sheds.  They really are fun little animals to keep.

Well, pigs are  people they have an order of there own, the best way is keep there pens clean and much sure they stay cool, and feed them the right food, keep the in fresh water and mud in the summer months,I was rasied on a farm we had over 300 pigs at one time! We really did smell them much because we did just told you!
