Question:

Help me fix my wet eye problem

Sometimes when I wake up I know immediately whether I will have wet eye problems for the day because either one eye or both of them feel wet. I've noticed that this seems to happen whenever I sleep for 5 hours or less. When it is a wet eye day, my eyes start tearing up whenever cold air hits my eyes (the factory I work at has air conditioner and powerful stand-up fans),

This is an embarrassing problem for me because it looks like I'm crying. It gets so bad that sometimes I have to go the bathroom to dry up my eyes as much as 4 times an hour, which is embarrassing itself. If I instead take tissue with me to dry up my eyes whenever they tear up, people ask me why I'm crying, which is even more embarrassing than going to the bathroom repeatedly.

What can I buy that will fix this problem? Please don't suggest to sleep more, I have this strong belief that the weekdays are too short on free time, 5 hours of sleep per day during the weekdays is as much as I'm willing to get.

  1. Sounds like "dry eye" to me. It sounds stupid but when eyes are dry, the brain tells the eyes to create more tears. Unfortunately, the tears that are created have more water component and not enough mucous or oil in them. Using over the counter artificial tears may help with this condition. Try Genteal or Refresh Plus. Try using them every hour for a bit and then slowly cut down after a few days. If it doesn't get better, see an Ophthalmologist.
