  1. Great ideas come this way...keep going

  2. Why can't they just get the water out of a tap for free? At my TAFE there was a water dispenser where you would push a lever and the water would pour down, you could just put your bottle or cup under it to fill it up. I think it had inline filters and a very simple system.

I am really proud of you for taking this step to get rid of the insane waste of plastic water bottles. Good luck.

  3. If most of the schools, if not all of them, do this, it will be a great gain to reduce plastic use and energy and thereby help the environment.  The school administration and teaching staff should come together and work it out.  There could be a sterilising (or purifying) unit for water and then it could be distributed even free of charge for drinking.  There are such units in the market where the water passes through filters and a uv unit to make tap water safe for drinking.

The parents and students also will have to be educated about this.

  4. It would be great for you to attempt to recyle the plastic at your school.  I suggest you check your local county and state recycle sites for help in starting a school recycle program.  There are also some wonderful resources from the federal government; especially the environmental protection agency.

  5. That is a good idea but I think most people are lazy and wouldn't want to bring their own bottle or just don't care, but I'm sure some would.. maybe you can start by having a box to collect used water bottles to be recycled.  I read about a woman who did it at her workplace.
