Ok, so I have a friend who's family has been having money problems lately. Her dad is really stressed and can't sleep at night (she told me).

And I feel really bad for her because she has lost her appetite and has been very down lately. She's not poor or anything, but everyone has problems and her parents are having business problems right now.

But over all my point is that she has a great talent in singing. She is amazing, and I'm not saying it because she is my friend, but because I have heard her and I'm being honest, seriously.

She has always wanted to be in the entertainment industry as a singer/performer.

I know you need to start out with classes, but right now her parents and her are very stressed out..she is only 13 btw.

I think it's a great idea if she would follow her dream

1.) because her family wouldn't have to worry about money.

2.) i know she has the capacity to make it and SUCCEED.

But I don't know how to help her follow her dream.

Pls don't say things like "be a good friend and give her some money".

Ok i have a limited allowance and she is NOT poor.

So please help me!

P.S : she used to be rich (not rich rich but yeah) before and lives in a huge house but her parents are having trouble now (of money) and she can't go to singing lessons either, and doesn't want to post on youtube or myspace, but has a guitar though.

thanks (:

  1. try having her perform at a local coffee shop with her guitar she can do covers of popular songs or originals

  2. Just be there to support her and spend time with her..Also suggest she try out for local plays..Most are musicals and they are free. It might also help if your family invited them over for supper once a week till things pick back up..A few free meals can really help.

  3. tell her to start making videos of her singing and post them on youtube. you can start your own "channel" where you can help her promote her singing.

do you know who Taylor Swift is? She started on youtube and MySpace and just kept on getting more people to hear her until the right person came along.

Just remember to be professional and classy. Then, if she really is good, you can try to get her to sing at baseball games or nursing homes. Start small, its all about baby steps. But every gig is just that, a gig.

And if its not meant to be, dont get discouraged. All you can do is try. GOOD LUCK!!

  4. She's lucky she has such a good friend.  I wonder if her parents know how worried she is about money.  Sometimes we have struggled but I try very hard not to worry my kids too badly over it.

I think you should encourage her to practice playing her guitar and singing.  Does your school have a chorus or band that she can join?  If she goes to church- she could probably sing there too.

Just try to be there for her right now and help her not to worry so much.  Her success doesn't hinge upon whether or not she has singing lessons at this moment.

Hang in there.  When you tell her you think she's a great singer and you listen to her, you already ARE supporting her and her dreams.

  5. Who needs singing lessons?  Look at Kimya Dawson from the Moldy Peaches!  Her voice isn't amazing but she's broken through.  Of course, that's because of her amazing song writing talent.  So tell your friend to pick up her guitar and start thinking of songs.  I think that if she likes to sing she must have a music writing thing.  So just get her started on that, and maybe she could go indie and do some stuff.  She could open for local bands if they play at prom.  Good luck and God bless to you and your friend.

  6. wow first you should keep her from being depressed by doing fun things with her that don't cost that much money, or don't cost any at all. Also if she really wants to sing, first have her think about acting because disney channel has many auditions which she could participate in and many of the kids on there end up singing and relatively famous. But mostly work on making her happy by doing other stuff. If singing is really her thing she'll figure out how to make it work in the long run
