okay so i dont currently play ice hockey, i play roller hockey. the only thing keeping me away from ice hockey is the ice. last time i went ice skating i couldnt really skate that well which if you ever saw me in a roller hockey game youd be surprised, but any ways i picked up a pair of bauer supreme somethings. i think they need to be sharpened. but anyways to the real question..... i think i need ice skating lessons. and my rink offers this hockey skills thing with all pads on and stick, which i have tried when i could ice skate. but i didnt like it that much. and they have figure skating lessons , which might teach me something but not hockey stuff. what should i do?

is there another type of class that i should take?

sorry i know that was long, thanks for reading.

  1. Find a rink with open skate.

Go with friends or by yourself and just work on your skating.

Before you know it you'll be good.

  2. The transition from Roller to Ice is harder than Ice to roller. Ice skating-you just need to sign up for a beginner hockey league or classes, and they have them for all ages... it will include learning to skate and the basics of hockey, and then they will usually break you into teams and play a few games... which cant hurt cause everyone playing is at your level and makes the game the right speed for your level on ice. The main thing it will do for you is  to learn the basics of the skating so that you can go to public skating sessions and work on it. Just my take!

  3. go for the hockey skating lessons with the pads the one u did not like because ull get use to the pads and they will teach u how to hockey skate u can also find another rink around ur area call them and find a public or free skating and practice skating forward and backwards i learned how to hockey skate at hockey trainning camp

  4. I kept falling at first but any lessons that you take on ice will benefit you. Don't be daunted by what you feel may be poor results. Remember that falling teaches you how to get up and stay up.

Trust me, if you keep trying and practice, practice, practice, you will forget about how much you fell.

  5. Ask one of the Hockey coaches to help you skate.

  6. You could go to a skating clinic or just try and semi teach yourself when they have free skate and then you could do a skating clinic that requires more skill and will help you more.

  7. The transition from roller to ice is nothing I have been playing ice hockey since I was 4 and roller is the same to me mabey its the cold ur not used to? alot of new players to the ice complain how the cold messes with there leg joints I would just practice at it if I were you there really isnt a big diffrence between the too it also could be your skates are not sharp enough check into that.
