Please point out some of the literary devices in this song and say what they are and why. Also here are some things I think might be literary devices but I'm not sure what devices, help me out:

"I got nothing to do and all day to do it"

"Ive no place to go and all night to get there"

"ticking away at my sanity"

Heres a link to the rest of the lyrics since yahoo won't let my post the whole thing

  1. All the uses of the d words in the first line do/day/do is called alliteration--the repetitive use of the same consonant.

The repetition of the letter "o" and the similar sound of the o's ==got, nothing, to, do, to , do, no to, go, to, ...etc.  is assonance--the repetitive use of the same vowel sound.

Now look at the "a" sounds in the ticking away line.

Of course, there's also rhyme.  And word repetition is a literary device, too, but I can't recall the name of it.
