It is in my vaction/holiday homes garage, is it ok to let it sit or should I have someone start it dry without being in water or is it better to take it out on the water or just leave it as it? PLEASE HELP WITH THIS question. And please explain why I should do what you say.

  1. drain all gas out of carburetor disconnect the battery about once a month pull plugs and turn engine over a few seconds and all should be fine

  2. You should take some precautions, but don't need to start it up.

At the end of your last use, use a fogging spray to coat the internal parts and make sure all your fuel is drained.  Replace the lower end lube to make sure there is no water left to rust the gears.  Cover it up to keep the dust off and you will be good to go.

Be cautious with the various rubber/plastic seals as prolonged dry air will dry them out.

  3. Well the best thing is that it's at least covered and dry, I feel thats the most important.  Never run an engine dry!  You'll have to hook up a garden hose with "ear muffs" to the water intakes, so water can circulate throught he engine as coolant. This would be a good idea for someone to do once in a while when you are gone.   If not, use "stabil", its a fuel additive that keeps gasoline fresh.  Fogging the carburator is also a good idea, while running the engine before storage.

  4. is this salt water??? if soo then that's the ocean and definately take it out.. storms.. barnicals... scum.... fresh water lake... scum excessive rain ca sink a boat even with bilge.. battery goes dead.. ooh i misread te q. let it sit. drain the gasoline if possible.. it will be fine..
