Help me in choosing alpine speakers can i use type X component as front speaker and type R as Rear Speakers?

I have bought Alpine CDA-9887 headset ,thinking of buying PDX-4.100 amplifier ,I am bit confused in choosing speakers thinking of buying Type R SPR 17S component speakers and use them in rear and SPX137R use them in front .Is it ok to mix type R and X together .Do this amplifier supports this speakers .Help me out

  1. sure, theres nothing wrong with mixing models, good choice with the type Xs in the front as they will produce most of the sound you here and you want high quality speakers up there. the type Rs will give you good rear filler and a little bass, should be a nice setup


  2. yes you can and let me tell you type R's are amazing iam sending the full 100watt rms that they can take to them in my setup and they perform very well, almost as much response as my 5 way 6x9s in a 6 and a half inch package. how i wish i could get 6'9s in my doors.

There's nothing wrong with mixing the Type R / Type X's. between front & rear.  You'll find a lot of people don't necessarily stay within the same brand when choosing.  The only suggestion I would make is don't waste too much money on buying components for the rear.  A simple coaxial Type R would be fine for rear fill/midbass with a nice component set in the front for good sound staging.

    The PDX-4.100 will sound really nice on this setup, particularly ran from a CDA-9887 head unit.
