Based on what you know about alternative fuels so far, would you recommend a company to move into the alternative fuels for the future?

Why or why not?

*Appreciated if comment as long as possible, because I need to present for 10mins on this topic.

  1. There are no alternative fuels that are very promising so far, but there is a lot of money in the development of alternative fuels.  I would do the development thing, and if you are successful, your new energy source will make billions.

  2. fattywagons.com they make the best wvo parts.

  3. It is still too risky, although some technologies to produce alternative fuels are already mature, especially ethanol from sugar canes, there are severe political constraints on making money from international business there. other sources of alternative fuels are at the R&D phase, and they require substantial budgets, which will have to come from the governements and non profit international institutuions.

  4. Since petroleum will eventually run out, it would be wise to start looking into alternatives.  There are many choices and which ones you pursue would depend on the expertise you have on hand and what energy application you plan to serve.

Doing so, from a business standpoint, means you are there at the ground floor.  You stand to make a fortune when energy demand tips in favor of new sources and there you are with solutions in hand.  This may end up being a revolutionary change ushering in a new age, much like advances that brought us the industrial and later the information age.  If a company is left holding on to yesterday's fuels, they may find themselves at best marginalized, at worst bankrupt.

That is, when the tipping point is finally reached.  When is that?  Nobody knows for sure, but historically, progress has been made largely in surges.  When that wave does come though, it would be better to surf than drown.

  5. you should look into methanol it's the simplest form of alcohol and uses co2 to make it.  fro a real alternative you have to look at what the oil companies are not doing and trying to distract you from seeing. suger cane biomass ect. whats not on the news and not a buzz word.

  6. the answer: EV "electric vehicles"

EV's are curently on the market but some are rather expensive, and some are not. Curently tesla is working on a sports car that can go 0-60 in 3.8 seconds, and go's around 300 miles per charge. the charging only takes 10 mins and can be done right at your home. there are MANY electric vehicles coming out, and some time in the mid summer/ early winter we will start to see them a LOT more.

Here are some links to some cars that are already out, or soon to be.

    the tesla roadster:

$100,000 0-60 3.8 seconds 220-300 miles per charge less then 2cents per mile.

    The ZAP x:

$50,000-$65,000 0-60 4.8 seconds 350 miles per charge less then 1 cent per mile

those are my 2 favorite cars that are coming out/already out. as for a cheaper car the Chinese are importing a lot of smaller cars that are WAY less try around 10-$15000

electric cars are the way of the future. They can be charged at your home, go for miles, and are becoming better and better every month. Electricity is BY FAR cheaper then gas.

as for the hybrids, there not worth investing to much in. Sure they save you a small bit, but if you can wait a little longer electric vehicles are going to push hybrids off the market. Hybrids still use gas, and there batery life isint that good. They still cost ALMOST the same as a normal car, and get just a little beter miles, where as the elctric cars get WAY more miles, and MUCH less cost to run them.

as for those hydrogen cars. They are not very promising. The fule to run them is EXTREAMLY expensive and hard to come by. There is a way to get hydrogen from watter but it requires MUCH MUCH more electricity, and in the end costs more then EV cars. Also, there are around 18 BILION gas stations in the world. To make hydrogen cars useful they would need to set up at lest HALF that many stations to make it so you dont run outa gas looking for a station.

In the end, electric cars are whats most likely going to be on top. They cost LESS to run, go further, out accelerate a ferrari, and can be re charged right at your house.

  7. Alternative fuels ARE the future. Not only will they become cheaper over time, but fossil fuels must become more expensive over time. The trick will be for companies to develop the RIGHT technologies. Corn ethanol is a dead end. But switchgrass ethanol is VERY attractive. You could spend 10 minutes just talking about that. Then there are wind, wave, geothermal, thin film solar, and zero point energy systems. Each of these systems will make many many millionaires. The big question you have to ask is which system is right for your company to work on/with.

  8. I think that fuel companies should move towards supplying alternative fuels and many already are, the possibilities for making lots of money are good but the competition is fierce and the risks are high. Which fuel is best will depend on many factors including location. It makes no sense in a World with so many starving people, to use human food to make alternative fuels. Brazil makes and uses lots of ethanol because they can easily grow the sugar cane feedstock to produce it. Hydrogen fuel cells are good, but only if you can get a good source of cheap hygrogen (not easy). Using electrical batteries is better in warm climates than cold climates where ordinary batteries struggle. Butanol is probably the best alternative fuel for aircraft and possibly cars. Wind, solar, wave and tidal (dam and flow) power for electricity generation is probably the best for supplying domestic and industrial requirements as well as public transport (especially trains).

  9. I would recomend any company to go into the alternative fuels for the future. cos goverments are putting Million of £/$s into ANYTHING that looks like they are trying to help the planet... like they are putting millions into wind farms... wind farms have got to be the MOST UNRELIABLE form of alternative fuel there is... but it looks good

  10. Alternative fuels? This site might help:

  11. Autos only burn 25% of its fuel the cadilac converter burns the rest. Isnt man smart enough to burn it all?

  12. Largest car production company in India is producing the MDI compressed air vehicles. These will be by far the most widely used in the third world and in the majority of poor countries. Read all about them at http://www.theaircar.com/

You will find ten minutes of presentation on this website.

This is a recommendation for a company to move into this field as there is no need to manufacture or transport fuel. Costs are lower. Air is everywhere! It is extremely economical and the exhaust air is cleaner! This will be the most revolutionary. I have ordered one and they will be available from 2009. Forget all electric and hybrid fuel cars. This is obviously the best solution.

  13. Veggie oil has been used o it is pricy now but in  the future I think raisins could be used they last a while a raisin water base substance could really work they keep things healthy so the could keep cars fit I guess good luck
