Question:

Help me kill myself via football?

So, I'm a pretty fit guy in my early 30s. I can still run fast, and I workout a lot so I pretty much move like I did in my 20s.

I have this crazy idea of joining a local full contact football league in my area. Thing is, I've never played on a team. The league is all pads and everything. "semi-pro" I guess you'd call them.

They have a combine and I want to go try to make the team (though I don't have any expectations for doing so.)

So what specific exercises should I do? Obviously sprinting and squats... what else? Like I said, I don't think I'll make the cut, but I want to at least leave a good impression.

I think I'd probably best be used as an end or receiver if that helps. I'm 6'3" and about 210.

  1. just keep trying an di think you can do it just stretch every day and you will be fine i trust in you that you can do it.

  2. u got good size... id say u could be agood WR or Saftey.... HANG CLEANS. POWER CLEANS, BENCH PRESS.. SQUATS. DEADLIFTS and SHOULDER PRESS

those are some good lifts to do

  3. Dude, you need to do the hitting, not get hit.

Besides, if you have never played organized football before, it's easier to play defense. All you have to do is find the ball and tackle the guy, where on offense you have to memorize a ton of plays.

I'd say with your size and speed you need to try for a line backer spot.

Emphasize upper body strength in your workouts.
