Question:

Help me make Chinese Yams not the sweet kind?

My 13 year old son went to china for an exchange program. He couldn't wait to tell me about the sweet potatoes he had and how wonderful they were. He said they were cooked on a grill of sorts and covered with what he decribed as Acorns. Does anyone know what he is talking about and if so how is it done. He said that they just peeled them and ate them with their hands. Thanks for anyone who can help me here.

  1. You can roast unpeeled sweet potatoes in the oven. The skins will peel right off. As far as acorns, I've seen acorn flour at a Korean grocery, but it's probably not the same thing. Ask him if it's like nuts. You can always sprinkle them with toasted chopped nuts.

  2. Sorry I can't help, but what your son experienced sounds like real fun.  o;
