  1. I'm a little biased because I have already been to these three countries but I would go with 1.)

    Why?

Because you get alot of variety: French, Spanish, and Italian food and traditions are very different and unique from each other. All three countries have alot of history and culture behind them. Thus, there are many historic sites and museums to visit. Also, all three countries touch the Mediterranean (Spain and  France also border the Atlantic Ocean), so you can hit up the beaches and relax, especially during the summer when it is very warm. Transportation in these countries is great, you can take the train to any city in those countries for pretty cheap. If you'd rather fly, there are some cheap airplane companies such as RyanAir or EasyJet that fly to many big cities (I flew from Milan to Barcelona last summer for $40).

I'll be going back to Italy and France this summer, since I had so much fun last year!

BTW: Keep in mind that all the countries south of the Equator will be having their Winter when you are there. So don't expect to be as warm as Europe during the summer.

  2. It really depends - have you been anywhere before?

I like the idea of France, Spain and Italy. This is where I am going in September (plus four days in London at the beginning) and it looks amazing. I am looking forward to it because I love architecture and photography, and I think that these places are the best for that kind of thing.

Also you get to experience cultures that pretty different from what we know.

My next pick would be probably Italy and Greece - once again the architecture and photography are amazing there, and everyone would be so jealous!

It depends what time of year though, If you were going when it was warm it would be better because then you could fully benefit from the Greek Islands. Imagine being on Santorini in the warmth... Wow I totally want to go on holiday now!

Although Asia is fun, if you stick to the cities, it's very crowded and busy and I don't like the atmosphere as much. I spent a few weeks in Malaysia a couple of years ago and it was quite dirty. Also we couldn't swim in the ocean because of pollution or something.

  3. Europe! That's where everything started! There's so many places you could go to, and so many things you could see.

  4. I guess it depends what kind of holiday you want to have!

I live in England, and in my opinion I couldn't imagine a more boring holiday than number 2. lol, but then I guess I've lived here all my life so it would be boring to me. If you DO pick that one then when you're in England either go to London or Liverpool if you want a buzzing city, pick Skegness if you want a really naff tacky traditional seaside resort but is pure England if you know what I mean, or if you want a lovely holiday destination that isn't a reflection on the rest of the country then pick the Scilly Isles, probably Tresco - we go there as it's lovely and you don't feel like you're even in England, but there's not a huge deal to do there and it is fairly pricey.

Number 1. - to be honest, having been to all 3, I'd say these countries are far too tacky and touristy - sure they all have beautiful areas and are warm and lovely but in all the commerical areas it's all driven towards the tourist industry and you don't get a taste of the true culture, and if you go out into the digs to get away from the commerciality you often find there's nothing to do. I've never been to Greece but I hear this is a lovely resort but much of the same. Spain especially, I've heard a lot of people describe as just a hot England, because in so many places it has lost its true Spanish charm! If it is a culture holiday you wanted to go on with the European thing, countries like Germany, Belgium etc. would be more interesting I reckon, in the capitals at least! Having said that, I've always wanted to go to Pompeii in Italy, for obvious reasons!

I've never been to any of the other categories you described. I think if I was picking out of the S. America I'd pick number 4. - a few people I know have been to Peru and said it was a lifechanging experience. I've never even heard of the Galapagos Islands, but Machu Picchu and Ecuador both sound great!

As for the last part... I'd like to go to China as it's a fascinating culture but to be honest it would scare me, I think I'd actually prefer to go to Japan as the culture and technology there is marvellous. Thailand, everybody I know who's been on holiday there has come back gushing about how great it was, but to be honest I've heard one too many horror story about holidays going wrong there, and being banged up in jail for things you haven't done, to want to personally risk it. But by all accounts it is a wonderful place. And finally, three of my friends toured many countries in Africa, including I think all of these. They went doing charity work and honestly came back changed people - when they first came back all three were on the verge of dropping everything in their lives and moving back out there permanently they loved it so much, it was only after having been back here for a while that they realised they couldn't say goodbye to their families forever, but they go back out there every summer. The only thing negative they said was about South Africa, well Cape Town anyway I don't know about the rest, but apparently this is another place that is just so commercialised and by all accounts not a true reflection of the true Africa - they said it's great if you want a tourist holiday but not so good if you want to experience the gritty reality but the wonderful beauty Africa has to offer. If I didn't have the safety of a baby to think about, number 8 would definitely be my choice out of all of them. However, having my son to think of, I think now if I was choosing I'd go with Italy and Greece, just as these are the safer and more close to home options! Have fun whatever you choose!
