I'm in a college level beginners art appreciation class. We are to pick an artist to study during the course of this summer semester and apply what we learn towards evaluating the particular artist we choose, and compile a massive paper--- which will be the majority of my grade. I'm totally illiterate when it comes to art-- can you please help me-- give me some suggestions on what may be some simpler artists to study, and who are well know! Thank you for your help!! I really appreciate it!

  1. I'm not sure if this could be useful.. But let me try to give it a go (:

I think your problem could easily be solved if you get an artisit right? Here I would like to suggest some..

    1) Andy Warhol.

I do feel that he's the best bet. I used him for my own inspiration/artisit influence and found out that he has a very clourful background.(: His style of painting and colouring is intresting too with everything being pop art. Lots to cover.

    2)Claude Monet.

Monet is an impressionist artisit which at the era which he was in, was pretty much unconventional. Impressionist artisit was pretty much criticized back then (oh so what my arts teacher told me) so you can cover that too.

    3)Edvard Much.

I'm sure know who Edvard Munch is right? He is most famous for his artmowrk called The Scream. Somehow whenever his names pop up, I would think of emotions. He is afterall an expressionist, so you can talk about it too.

If you want, you can try to do some about cubist. For eg: Pablo PIcasso. That would be interesting too. These artisit that I've provided you not only has interesting background, but thier style of painting and colouring is intersting too .

    Good luck!

  2. Study Monet or Van Gogh. They are easy, well-known, and interesting.
