If you could have any golf putter less than $175, what brand and model would you get? And why? Please just don't say 'Taylormade' and not give a specific model.

thanks so much :)

  1. theres not really a straight answer for that. u gotta get a putter that works for u. a lot of people but expensive putters and expect to magically be better overnight. u gotta be comfortable with ur putter, whether its a taylormade one that u spent $175 on or a putter u found at walmart that cost u 10 bucks.

  2. dont go for the gimmicks

PING ANSER II  (or any ping putter) is a qualty putter and the price is right.

    good luck

  3. i would reccomend the rife 2 bar hybrid putter it has so much features and its forgiving. i use the ben hogan bhb-9 putter the one jim furyk used to win the us open in 2003. also try the taylormade monza spider, oddysey three ball srt, and the oddysey sabretooth

  4. I think you really need to go in there and get fitted properly for a putter. And the feel of the putter is so personal you can't go by what others suggest. Head to d**k's and putt around!

  5. You need to get a putter that you can line up well, if you have trouble with that , Odyssey 2ball putter is a great putter , mallet or blade

  6. You dont need to spend $175 dollars on a putter. I have a Acuity putter that I got for $20 and it is very nice.

  7. I just bought this putter and love it because I've always had trouble getting aligned.  Looks bulky, but it's surprisingly light.

My only complaint is that it takes quite a bit of room in my bag, but I'm rolling my putts so much better that it's worth it.

  8. Which putter would I choose.  I would choose the one that felt best to me. And fit me.  What brand would not be a factor.  There are a lot of putters for sale...all kinds...so I would ask the golf pro if I could take a putter out to the practice green and putt with it. If it didn't feel right, I would choose another.  Most pro shops, and of course the golf stores that have a putting area, will allow you to test drive a putter....and that's the best thing to do.  You can always check the price of the putter as they are almost always marked what price it sells for.  Take your time...find what "feels" best to you.  Putting is probably the most important part of your golf game, and should not be taken for granted...or to casually.  For example; Ping has a complete putting display showing all the different available putters they have....with colors that designate what lie each one is..and that's important to know. Other golf companies have similar testing displays as well.  For a little time invested, and asking questions this will make your "on the green" life better.

  9. What do I use?  Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Pro Platinum.  But no matter what I use I would not advise someone else to use it unless it was their choice as a putter is almost as personal a choice as the underwwear you prefer

  10. I have one putter, Odyssey Two Ball. It suits me, been using it for 4 years now, very rarely do I three putt.

  11. Look at my first choice Odyssey. My second is Ping. Next, go with what feels good to you and what you like.

  12. I still use my Ping Pal. Have for years.  Regripped it 4 times.  My daughter uses a YES blade putter (she is a 9 handicap) and my wife uses the Odyssey White Hot 2 ball putter (she is a 4 handicap).  Dr Bob Rotella in his book "Putting out of your Mind" says that if you think a putter will help your game... it will.

  13. I have been using the Odyssey 3-ball for a while. I just got a new putter, it's a Maxfli Black Max. So far, it's nice. It has a very nice feel to it.

  14. Putting is probably one of the most important parts of the game. Which is why you wont see any of the long drive champions on the PGA tour. In my opinion it is worth the extra money to get a good putter, I use a Scooty Cameron Studio Style putter. Its the greatest one ive ever used

  15. What others think has no influence on feel. I had an old cheapy hand me down that was rusted and banged up. I would very seldom 3 putt. My friends razzed me and I wanted to "upgrade" I have tried several Odysseys, Taylor Made, Answer and now am using a Ping Anser. I love the  ping answer however there was a lot of money lost experimenting.

The club that will cost you the most stokes on a course is the putter. Try and go with feels best in your hands. Dont be influenced on what is cool, but where you can win the money with making putts from your friends.

Would you rather look cool or win?

  16. There is a reason why some golfers have dozens of putters in their garage, and why some golfers use the same putter for decades while changing their woods and irons every few years:  Putting is completely subjective.

You need to find the putter that works best for you, and not rely on advice from others who putt differently than you do.  Personally, I still use the same Ping Anser II my dad gave me 20 years ago.

  17. I'm happy with my putter, an AMF 2-ball type that I got as a gift from a former boss. It took some getting used to (I had only used blade types before this one), but now my putting is the best part of my game.

If I HAD to buy a new putter, I'd either get the Odyssey 3-ball SRT [ http://rockbottomgolfssl.com/search/sear... ] or the Nickent PIPE [ http://www.rockbottomgolf.com/nickent-go... ] because it seems pretty close to what I use now.

    Best of luck!
