Question:

Help me pick out a song for wedding, pleeese!

I have been singing for weddings for many years, but the bride always knew what she wanted and she would give me the sheet music. This time, the bride asked me to pick a song since I have sung so many. Here are the rules, No country, no rock, nothing fast. Has to be either Christian, soft romantic song or theme song from a love movie. What the heck, I'm at a loss. What if I get the wrong thing? Should I just tell her she has to pick it out herself and present me with sheet music? or take my chances on whatever you guys can suggest? Thanks, I'm desparate.

  1. I Finally Found Someone by Barbra Streisand was the movies theme for the mirror has two faces

  2. For some reason "You Light Up My Life" is sticking out in my head. It's a song that has been used in a lot of weddings as a love song but it is also seen as a religious song about God (I think that was the original intended meaning).

Edit: Sorry, I didn't realize that song was still so popular! It was my parents wedding song. Good luck, though. I hope you find a good one!

  3. Do Lullabye (Goodnight My Angel) by Billy Joel. I love that song, and it's super sweet and romantic.

If you can't find something just tell her politley but, straight out that she needs to pick the song because it is her wedding, and you are clueless as to what she wants. Or you could sit down with her and go over some songs together, that way it's a compromise. Hope this helps!!! Good Luck!!

  4. Hi...I came across this song on youtube about a month ago and absolutely fell in love with it! I plan on using it at some point in my own wedding (haven't figured out where to put it quite yet lol...probably the unity candle or something). I don't think your husband would disapprove of the words or anything, but I dunno....here they are in case you need to show him first =D

The song is 'Lucky', performed by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat. If you listen to it, you can probably tweak it a bit to get the word 'boy' out of there, etc., so it sounds more generalized. And I'm pretty sure it can be sung as a solo piece.

    Lyrics:

    Do you hear me,

    I'm talking to you

Across the water across the deep blue ocean

Under the open sky, oh my, baby I'm trying

Boy I hear you in my dreams

I feel your whisper across the sea

I keep you with me in my heart

You make it easier when life gets hard

I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend

Lucky to have been where I have been

Lucky to be coming home again

Ooohh ooooh oooh oooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

They don't know how long it takes

Waiting for a love like this

    Every time we say goodbye

I wish we had one more kiss

I'll wait for you I promise you, I will

I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend

Lucky to have been where I have been

Lucky to be coming home again

Lucky we're in love every way

Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed

Lucky to be coming home someday

And so I'm sailing through the sea

To an island where we'll meet

You'll hear the music fill the air

I'll put a flower in your hair

    though the breezes through trees

Move so pretty you're all I see

As the world keeps spinning round

You hold me right here right now

I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend

Lucky to have been where I have been

Lucky to be coming home again

I'm lucky we're in love every way

Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed

Lucky to be coming home someday

Ooohh ooooh oooh oooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

Ooooh ooooh oooh oooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

  9. A couple kinda generic Christian love songs are :

--Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher//Audio Adrenaline

    --Holding Hands//Steve Green

    --Waltz for Jennifer//FFH

These are songs I've sung for a Christian Anniversary, but they can be used in a wedding for sure.  :)

And they're good songs, kinda. LOL.

  10. try singing:

    No One by Alicia Keys

  11. How about "How Can I Keep From Singing" ?

I don't know if the bride is Protestant or Catholic, but "How Can I Keep From Singing" is a Catholic hymn. I do think it's romantic, though. Here's the lyrics.

My life flows on in endless song

    Above earth's lamentation

I hear the real though far off hymn

    That hails a new creation

    Refrain:

No storm can shake my inmost calm

While to that rock I'm clinging

Since Love is Lord of heaven and earth

How can I keep from singing

Through all the tumult and the strife

    I hear that music ringing

It sounds and echoes in my soul

How can I keep from singing?

    Refrain

What though the tempest 'round me roar

I hear the truth it liveth

What though the darkness 'round me close

Songs in the night it giveth

    Refrain

When tyrants tremble sick with fear

And hear their death knells ringing

When friends rejoice both far and near

How can I keep from singing?

    Refrain

The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart

    A fountain ever springing

All things are mine since I am his

How can I keep from singing?

    Refrain

And you can find the sheet music here. http://www.printandpraise.com/songprint/...

  12. I'm Yours (2008)

    by Jason Mraz

album: We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things (2008)

    Complimentary "I'm Yours (2008)" Ringtone

Well, you done done me and you bet I felt it

I tried to be chill but your so hot that I melted

I fell right through the cracks, now I'm tryin to get back

before the cool done run out I'll be givin it my best test

and nothin's gonna stop me but divine intervention

I reckon it's again my turn to win some or learn some

But I won't hesitate no more,

    no more, it cannot wait

    I'm yours

Well open up your mind and see like me

open up your plans and d**n you're free

look into your heart and you'll find love love love love

listen to the music of the moment people dance and sing

    We're just one big family

And it's our godforsaken right to be loved loved loved loved loved

So, i won't hesitate no more,

no more, it cannot wait i'm sure

there's no need to complicate our time is short

    this is our fate

    I'm yours

    *scat*

I've been spendin' way too long checkin' my tongue in the mirror

and bendin' over backwards just to try to see it clearer

But my breath fogged up the glass

and so I drew a new face and I laughed

I guess what I'd be sayin' is there ain't no better reason

to rid yourself of vanities and just go with the seasons

it's what we aim to do

    our name is our virtue

But I won't hesitate no more,

    no more it cannot wait

    I'm yours

Well open up your mind and see like me

open up your plans and d**n you're free

look into your heart and you will find that the sky is yours

    so please don't, please don't, please don't,

    there's no need to complicate,

    Cause our time is short

This, this, this is our fate,

    I'm yours

    *scat*

  13. The Rainbow Connection, you know...the kermit the frog song. Very Pretty.

Or, go to weddingchannel.com and search through their list of appropriate wedding songs. They should have something.

The bride really can't complain if you pick the "wrong" song. If she wants a specific type of song, she really should be picking it out herself.

  14. Whole New World: Regina Belle

    Fields of Gold: Sting

Come Back to Bed: John Mayer

Section 14: Polyphonic Spree (Really good if you can pull it off)

    "You gotta be good.

    You gotta be strong.

You gotta be two thousand places at once.

Sold inside you’ll find it’s right between the eyes.

You’ll never know the shame entirely fits you.

    You gotta be good.

    You gotta be strong.

You gotta be two thousand places at once.

And I know there’s a lot outside the window.

It seems a lot for you and me.

It takes the sun to make the sidewalk.

It takes the moon to burn my feet.

It means a lot to take some time.

    I know it’s right.

    You gotta be good.

    You gotta be strong.

You gotta be two thousand places at once.

It seems a lot to show.

You’ve got the time to grow.

    It seems so good.

    Zoom, zoom, zoom…

And time will show the way.

And love will shine today. And time will go away

    So love can grow."

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvdlVq_Zp...

**I know there are other versions of this song, but this is what I found on youtube.

    Lyrics:

( Paradise can not refuse us

    Never such a happy pair

    Everybody must excuse us

    If we walk on air

All the shadows now will lose us

    Lucky stars are everywhere

    As a happy being

    Here's what I'm forseeing )

For you, for me, forever more

It's bound to be forever more

    It's plain to see

We found, by finding each other

    The love we waited for

    I'm yours, you're mine

    And in our hearts

    The happy ending starts

    What a lovely world

    This world will be

With a world of love in store

For you, for me, forever more.

    (instrumental bridge)

    What a lovely world

    This world will be

With a world of love in store

For you, for me, forever more.

    2. What about it had to be you.  I know Frank Sinatra has a version of this song

    lyrics:

Why do I do, just as you say, why must I just, give you your way

Why do I sigh, why don't I try - to forget

It must have been, that something lovers call fate

Kept me saying: "I have to wait"

I saw them all, just couldn't fall - 'til we met

It had to be you, it had to be you

I wandered around, and finally found - the somebody who

Could make me be true, and could make me be blue

And even be glad, just to be sad - thinking of you

Some others I've seen, might never be mean

Might never be cross, or try to be boss, but they wouldn't do

For nobody else, gave me a thrill - with all your faults, I love you still

It had to be you, wonderful you, it had to be you

    --Good luck
