Help me please, Java playing up?

My computer broke so my dad fixed it for me [He's had professional PC re-pair training]. It'd play videos and things before and now its saying it can't because of something to do with java [ Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player. ], I've updated it and it still wont play, should I uninstall everything java related and install it all again or what?
