Hi! I'm an italian girl who is going to come to Galway in september, hoping to find a room!!! My question is, do you think I can find a work there for 7-8 months??? Because I will be alone, it's my first experience abroad, so I'm a little bit worried that there will be no place to work!!! I can do everything, even cleaning toilets!!!! Please answer me, and if you have any advice, I will be grateful!!!

  1. You can clean our toilets in Ballydung Manor.

A word of warning though, you'll need to get tetanus shots first.....

  2. As your English is good I'd say you will find work easily enough. The students will be going back to college then and leaving their summer jobs open for people like you.You will like Galway. It's a nice place for all nationalities but take the same care that you would anywhere else.Welcome to Ireland, I hope you enjoy your stay and meet a nice Irish boy.

  3. Whatever about getting work - be very careful.

A 17-year old Swiss student was brutally murdered in Galway a few months ago on her second night here.

There's lots of casual work available but don't expect to earn a fortune.

  4. You should have no problem getting a job. Probably in a hotel, cafe, fastfood place or restaurant. Or in one of the major supermarkets: Tesco, Dunnes Stores, Super Valu. But be very careful, I don't mean to worry you but be very weary of people who might try to befriend you, offer advice etc etc. We, Irish people, are generally friendly but as with anywhere else you have to be weary because there are always people around who are not so nice....

You also need to remember that the Irish economy is in decline at present, there are fewer jobs than before but you should, as long as you have good English, be able to find work. One option you might want to consider is to work as an au-pair. Money is low but your accommodation and meals are paid for.

If you are going to Galway in September you will be in competition with thousands of other students who will also be looking for accommodation!

  5. Well you seem to ave good english so that helps! Id say you will find it easy enough! Try coffee shops etc their always looking for workers!

  6. there should be lots of jobs.a lot of foreigners do cleaning or work in hotels and restaurants. im sure you will get some work

  7. Hi, I agree with tiarnan. There should be lots of jobs available when you get to Galway. When you get here you should have a CV, I'm sure it would help. If you can't find anything being advertised spend awhile go door to door at restaurants, hotels etc. asking is there anything available.

    Good luck.

I hope you enjoy you're time here! :)
