  1. 1 yard = 3 feet

Multiply 4 x 3 and then 5 x 3 to get the dimensions in feet.

    4 x 3 = 12 ft.  and  5 x 3 = 15 ft.

Multiply 12 ft by 15 ft. to get the square feet.

    12 x 15 = 180

Then multiply 180 sq. ft. by $2.89 to get the cost.

    180 x 2.89 = $520.20

  2. You need to know: 1 yard = 3 feet. So, 4 yards by 5 yards is the same as 12 feet by 15 feet

First you need to know the total square feet, which would be the area: Area if a rectangle = side 1 x side 2 = 12 x 15 = 180 square feet

Then you simply times the number of square feet by the price per square foot:180 x $2.89 = $520.20
